The Everest Peace Project funds another Library for Kids in Nepal.
A new - second Everest Peace Project “Peace Library” for children in Nepal has been funded!
The Everest Peace Project is proud to announce that through its educational partner “Room to Read” (www.roomtoread.org) we have funded another library/reading room for needy children in Nepal. This is the second library that we have helped bring into existence, please help us reach our goal of funding a school!
Room to Read is a wonderful non-profit organization based in San Francisco. Founded by former Microsoft executive John Wood, Room to Read has so far built over 3000 schools and libraries in Asia!
More information about our new library will be coming in the near future.
In the meantime, please view the video clip of our first library here: http://www.everestpeaceproject.org/video_gallery_play.php?gid=205&cid=12

Namaste!

The Everest Peace Project Peace Library in Kathmandu
I was truly blown away and deeply moved at the reception we got from the Nepalese children and teachers when we arrived at The Everest Peace Project Peace Library (located in the Kathmandu Valley). Through our educational partner Room to Read (www.roomtoread.org) we were able to fund a library for needy kids in Nepal. We arrived to smiling and clapping children. It was truly wonderful!
We officially christened the library and then me and EPP climbing members Dudu Yifrah, and Ali Bushnaq played "Santa" and handed out educational gifts such as puzzles, books, crayons, maps and other goodies.
It is our goal to also help educate and inspire children across the world at home and in the classroom as we will use our documentary film (due out in spring 2007) as an educational tool - to help children learn about peace, teamwork, and multi-cultural understanding. But we are also happy that we could do something tangible and immediately measurable to help a place that is so near and dear to my heart.
